So I’ve been thinking of 8th bird Angus right? I’ve seen a lot art lately. Anyway, I FUCKING LOVE IT.
Let me break this down for you.
Angus was only supposed to be with them for two months, he’s a junior IPRE member that won a spot on the Starblaster with an essay or research project contest.
It was only supposed to be two months.
The Hunger comes, throws them into the next plane.
At first the crew is worried that this kid was going to miss his family, freak out.
Angus doesn’t have one to miss, so he doesn’t miss their world too much.
Taako and Lup warm up to the kid after that, they are a sucker for someone like them.
Taako gets attached to Angus by the end of the second cycle. Adopts the kid in his mind by cycle three. Asks to adopt him by cycle five.
Angus calls Taako his dad on every plane after that. For shits and giggles Taako legal adopts Angus on some planes they can get away with it.
By cycle fifteen Angus starts having a crisis dealing with never growing, never aging. He’s been a little boy for all these cycles. He started as ten and he grows a lot in a year but shrinks back at the start of each cycle.
Angus has seen 25 years pass but he’s stuck in the body of a child. How many more cycles and years will this happen? How is he supposed to handle this?
Taako and Lup, being elves and knowing how it is to not age for hundred of years do their best to ease his mind.
It helps but it’s still so hard to be so mature and knowledgeable but be seen as naive.
Angus gave Lup her own Best Day Ever with just him and he did one for Barry too, and he and Taako held each other as the most important people in their lives turned into Lichs.
When Lucretia did The Thing™, she knew she couldn’t keep Taako and Angus together, it would be too difficult to edit in a way that would allow for it so she found Angus a family with the McDonalds.
Angus always loved a good puzzle and the world didn’t make sense and he was going to hunt down why, it drove him into detective work, it lead him to Rockport. Lead him to Taako.
Angus didn’t like many adults, they never took him serious, never thought much of him because he was young. But he felt older than he was.
And Angus liked Taako. He liked Merle and Magnus even if they goofed on him a lot.
Angus got close to things that Lucretia /had/ to keep him close so she could keep him away from things.
Her heart ached when she watched Taako and Angus interact, it was the early cycles all over again.
When shit hit the fan and the Void fish ichor brought back that stole century, Taako had never felt such white hot rage, such deep betrayal.
Taako held Angus tightly against his side as he raised his wand at Lucretia and said: “You took /everything/ from me.”
Now, now, I don’t know how to avoid Angus aging when they get to current 99 cycle. But everything else. Damn, damn guys.
You know something? Cats just get it… they intrinsically know that if you get overwhelmed you should just pass out in a sunbeam in the middle of the floor because that’s how it be sometimes
